Parent-Student Handbook (regarding parties/gifts at school)

Parties:
We celebrate two holidays with parties each year, Halloween and Valentine’s Day. Teachers may also choose to have a party occasionally to celebrate the achievement of classroom goals. All treats for these occasions or birthdays must be prepackaged, sealed and produced on a commercial basis. Ingredients should be listed on the label. This is to ensure the safety and sanitation of food served at school. Increasingly, we are finding students who are allergic to latex, nuts or other specific ingredients in food products. It is also the parent’s responsibility to notify the school of any allergies, of this nature, a student may have. We want to make sure each child feels special on their birthday, consequently, each child will be recognized for a brief period of time by the classroom teacher and students. Students may not bring and distribute invitations to parties being held outside the school at any time. Please do not have balloons or gifts of any kind sent to the school for your children on their birthday or for other occasions. (This includes valentines day) We will not be able to deliver them to the students. (Thank you)

Reminder - Appropriate Clothing for Recess (as written in Parent Student Handbook)

Students will be outside any time the temperature (with wind chill) is above 0 degrees. The school does provide a “warm-up” area for
students inside the building when the temperature is below 10 degrees. Please make sure your child is dressed in warm clothing during cold
weather. Snow boots, gloves, hats, and coats should be worn when the weather is cold. Students are strongly discouraged from wearing shorts
from November to March because of the cold weather. All students are expected to participate in recess unless excused due to health
restrictions. ** A written request from your family’s doctor is asked if a student is to stay in for recess for more than one day.
